Painted in 2013 inspired by another artist – I can’t recall the name of the artist but this is a specific copy of their work so I can see how it was made with a gorgeous paint effect, I created a whole series of line art watercolour sketches like this, alas I was not able to eclipse the work of the originals but I think as a study this work allowed me an ability to understand creating simple yet dramatic art.
Copying art from other artists is something that all artists do to learn new techniques and try different things, I used the same style of drawing and created other versions – the paint drop effects were great fun to make with real paints – I have since tried to replicate the effects by digital means, which is another one of my interests, in how to make digital art that looks traditional with textures of canvases and think paint.
